Overview of the Parks

The City of Sulphur Springs invites you to visit their parks.

bullet All parks have traditional picnic areas with barbeque grills,
 swing sets and slides.
 
bulletColeman Parks had its grand opening the Spring of 2003. Coleman Park features
an Athletic Complex, tennis courts, fishing lakes, walking/nature trails and a
children's water feature with the Imagination Mountain playground.

 
bulletBuford Park features an athletic complex, the City swimming pool, Kid's Kingdom,
playgrounds, snow cone stand and a small fishing lake.
 
bulletPacific Park is a community park featuring a rent hall, playground, athletic courts
and a baseball field.

 

Our Mission

The Parks and Recreation Department is here to operate and maintain a better park system
for the benefit of citizens and their guests . The park system supports traditional park
activities, promotes  recreational athletics programs and a variety of recreational
opportunities for children and adults.

 

Sulphur Springs, Texas

Sulphur Springs, Texas, has around 15,000 population and is known as the
Dairy Capital of Texas. The City has recently built a Public Library, airport terminal and 
Coleman Park.

The schools are exemplary, the newly restored courthouse is renowned, the Hopkins County
Civic Center hosts cultural and agricultural events and the museums projects our local heritage.
The City is truly a place for a "visit of a lifetime."

Coleman Park opened the Ball Field Athletic Complex and Grocery Supply Soccer
Complex in Spring 2002 and celebrated the grand opening in the Spring of 2003.

Over 1500 local young people participated in baseball, softball and soccer each year. The
local Dixie Leagues hosted District and State Tournaments at the City's ball field complex.
Along with a Adult Co-ed and Men's softball league in the springs and fall at Coleman.

The  Coleman Park Lake has been stocked with fish. An Eagle Scout Duck Habitat Project and
a School District Bluebird House Project were completed on the Nature Trail.

Coleman Park features 1.3 miles to 3 miles of paved walking/jogging paths.  The  exciting
children's water activity playground is completed. The playground contains Imagination
Mountain with tunnels, slide holes, relic forts and sand boxes.

Imagination Mountain's  waterfall and Upper Lake dam appear on the cover of the Hopkins
County Chamber of Commerce Buyer's Guide. Map to Coleman Park is included in this booklet.

Coleman Park Athletic Complex is located off the Dallas bound Interstate Highway 30 service road at the Highway 19 exit , turning right off service road onto Gossett Lane into Coleman Park entrance.  [Click Here for City Map to Coleman Park]

 Imagination Mountain is found by taking Highway 19 North off of Interstate 30, turn right at the four way stop sign unto Main Street  past Coleman Lake and turn right unto Reservoir Road to the Coleman Park Imagination Mountain  entrance.

Buford Park from I-30 is on League Street turning left off of Main Street.  Main Street is found by turning right off of Highway 19 at the four way stop .
