Our Mission
The Parks and Recreation Department is here to operate and maintain a
better park system
for the benefit of citizens and their guests . The park system supports
traditional park
activities, promotes recreational athletics programs and a variety
of recreational
opportunities for children and adults.
Sulphur Springs, Texas
Sulphur
Springs, Texas,
has around 15,000 population and is known as the
Dairy Capital of Texas. The City has recently built a Public Library,
airport terminal and
Coleman Park.
The schools are exemplary, the newly restored courthouse is renowned,
the Hopkins County
Civic Center hosts cultural and agricultural events and the museums
projects our local heritage.
The City is truly a place for a "visit of a lifetime."
Coleman
Park opened the Ball Field Athletic Complex and Grocery
Supply Soccer
Complex in Spring 2002 and celebrated the grand opening in the Spring of
2003.
Over 1500 local young people participated in baseball, softball and
soccer each year. The
local Dixie Leagues hosted District and State Tournaments at the City's
ball field complex.
Along with a Adult Co-ed and Men's softball league in the springs and
fall at Coleman.
The Coleman Park Lake has been stocked with fish. An Eagle
Scout Duck Habitat Project and
a School District Bluebird House Project were completed on the Nature
Trail.
Coleman Park features 1.3 miles to 3 miles of paved walking/jogging
paths. The exciting
children's water activity playground is completed. The playground
contains Imagination
Mountain with tunnels, slide holes, relic forts and sand boxes.
